What We Do
We are dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Below are examples of activities listed in our three main areas of projects.
Promoting Patriotism
- Support of the troops at Fort Liberty with cards and gifts
- Support troups and their families at our local U.S. Coast Guard Station on Oak Island
- Support Wreaths Across America and participate in the wreath-laying ceremony
- Observe Veterans Day and participate in the Veterans Day Parade
- Participate in our local naturalization ceremony on the fourth of July by hosting a luncheon and welcoming the new citizens
- Participate in the local Fourth of July parade and celebration
- Participate in the Anniversary of the Battle at Moores Creek

Hosting Lunch and Supporting the Coast Guard
Historic Preservation
- Held gravesite ceremony to honor Private Robert Bollie Stanley as he received a Purple Heart posthumously and additional medals for his service and sacrifices in World War I
- Support the National Society for the Preservation of NSDAR buildings
- Promote observation of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary with the America 250! program
- Helped to restore one of North Carolina’s oldest African American churches in the town of Navassa
- Participate in local historic programs, tours, and events

Brunswick Historial Waymarker
Education
- Present Constitution Week programs and set up displays in local libraries
- Participate in Bells Across America on September 17 to honor the signing of the U. S. Constitution
- Sponsor American History Essay Contests for students in fifth to eighth grades
- Sponsor Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) Awards to cadets in high schools
- Sponsor DAR Good Citizens Essays for high school seniors
- Support Crossnore Communities for Children
- Participate in educational opportunities in our community through the Reading Across America program
